Massive Hype However a Significant Gamble: Battlefield's Latest Takes Aim At Its Rival Series

Within the fiercely cutthroat world of interactive entertainment, it's typical for fresh competitors to disappear as swiftly as they burst on to the stage.
But this new installment is hoping to change that.
It's the newest release in a long-running military shooter line often framed as a more authentic alternative to the CoD series.
The title has seldom succeeded to equal its most famous opponent in terms of sales or gamers, but there are signs the latest version could narrow the difference.
A trial event enabling players a shot to try out the game earlier this year set new benchmarks, and the buzz leading up to its debut has been immense.
However the undertaking is nevertheless a major venture for company its creators, which has according to sources allocated vast amounts of funds producing it.
Reporters have talked to some of the makers to discover how they aim it will be profitable.
Development Group and Studio Partnership
Four studios are working on the project under the collaborative umbrella.
They include original series creator Dice, headquartered in Sweden, Los Angeles-based Motive Studios and Ripple Effect in the Great White North.
One more, the UK studio, is based in Guildford.
Rebecka Coutaz is the executive of the two European teams, and shares with reporters that, in terms of what it's delivering players, "this new game is arguably unbeatable."
Responding To Past Mistakes
The new release comes off the back of the futuristic Battlefield 2042, released four years ago to a unfavorable reception it had difficulty to overcome.
"It's likely that we would find it impossible to create and produce the latest entry lacking the lessons we had in the last release," she explains to the press.
One of those insights was to involve players participating early, and the developers started invite-only fan playtests earlier this year.
This "response was incredibly positive," says Rebecka.
Another absent component from the last game was a story mode, which has been brought back in this version.
The UK studio project head the design director is the person tasked with "guaranteeing those levels are as entertaining and compelling as possible for the players."
In spite of claims that the scale of the game had created pressure for the various developers partnering across continents to build the game, he is positive about the process.
"Partnering with varied backgrounds, different backgrounds, it's a really engaging environment to be involved in on a regular basis," he shares.
"This whole approach has been a fresh take but something really exciting because we are partnering with individuals from internationally."
As for the anticipation on the team, Fas says: "We experience demand but at the same time it's motivating.
"It's a big undertaking. It's likely the biggest that many of us have ever been involved in."
Young Artist Adds Innovative Perspective
