19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former trainer his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
He came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.
He defended four initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
