Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his position after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
