The President Calls Relatives of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Tragic Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Memorials across the state have been held in their memory.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid public safety in DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of her alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to assist people.”
Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and cease granting visas to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told the program that she also intended to visit Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with honor, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” he informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
